Horse tag game 🏃🏼‍♀️

Remembered this fun game we used to play when I was a beginner. The rider in front (blue in the picture) trots around the whole arena to catch the rider behind him (orange in the picture), and the rider behind has to trot slowly so that the first rider can catch him. When the “blue” rider has caught the “orange” rider, their roles switch - orange chases blue and so it goes. We used to play this with 2 and 3 riders, and it was so fun!

I love this exercise. We did it at a canter at a western horsemanship clinic last year.

I used to do this to practice cantering a few years ago. Everyone is walking in a line and the first person has to canter to the back of the line. It helps practice a controlled canter and transitions, as sometimes, if you ride a lazy horse you had limited time to get them into canter. You also had to make sure to slow down before you reach the line.
