Ground training session with long reins. Once a week I share this good exercise with my horse during 30 mn. There are plenty of advantages 1/ I can study the locomotion of my horse using the total space of the arena in the 3 gaits. 2/ as I can lead him straight on or on large circles or follow some diagonal lines, it is less restrictive than lunging . 3/ I improve my handโ€™s contact with the mouth as driving the horse with long reins requires a smooth touch. 4/ there are no fixed reins then it allows the flexible movement of the neck and of the head, the horse is more relaxed in a dynamic impulsion and it strenghen the muscles of his back ! 5/ it is a good cardio training for me as I walk/run/walk while my horse is trotting or cantering.
