Green has always been my favorite color and I am in love with the elegance of the deep midnight green velvet saddle pad. I have built an entire horse and rider wardrobe for late fall from this starting point. I imagined that I was going to ride in a dressage clinic by a well-known trainer. As an adult amateur, I would want to set a workmanlike tone. It can't be too attention grabbing or matchy matchy, but careful coordination shows my respect for the clinician. I would choose black for myself to allow my horse to be the point of focus. My horse would arrive and warm up in a green PSOS cooler, over a midnight green velvet pad, black saddle, and green boots. I have observed that good clinicians tend to be aware of everything in their surroundings even when focused on a student. A well-executed warm-up on my part may well be noticed from the corner of his/her eye. Of course, once on board, I would change my warm knitted black cap for a helmet. With a slight chill in the air, I would want my PSOS black sweater over my black Cecile base layer. If I'm feeling confident and brave, I would venture to wear black Cardi breeches for a little flash. The final touches to this rich understated look are the Amsterdam bridle in black with silver accents and slender grip reins. Looking good on my horse doesn't replace good riding but the lift in my confidence certainly doesn't hurt.
