Taking a Step Back to Move Forward
After I had my son at the end of January, I was so excited to be getting back in the saddle. Life had some other plans and we have to take a step back once again. After almost a year of confusion about why my horse, Max, was struggling with his balance and toe dragging and leaning into corners, we finally have some answers. He likely has been dealing with EPM for quite some time, but thankfully, with some medication and lots of love and time, he will most likely be back even better than before. Itโs hard to get back on the ground after such a long break and Iโm upset I didnโt know he was sick any earlier, but Iโm so glad weโre finally in a place to really make progress and help Max be and feel his very best.
Itโs a good reminder that you donโt know what you donโt know and you canโt beat yourself up over something you donโt know. We can only keep trying to learn and do better for our partners. And sometimes taking a step back means that youโre able to fly later. ๐ฆ
