Lead Change Pole Exercise

Today I practiced flying changes on a 20 meter circle. As you can see in this video, King will fall in as soon as he makes the change. I’m using this exercise to help him become straighter as we change leads. To try this exercise, you need two poles about two feet apart from each other. You can use one pole if you want to but I believe it encourages the horse to change leads easier when there are two poles there. I find it easier to keep King straight by putting a cone several feet out in front of the poles that way I have something to look at as we go over the poles. I hope this exercise is helpful!
