As of late, I’ve been focusing on straightness with a horse who loves to bulge a shoulder and trail off into that direction. Counter flexion has been the biggest asset for me!
Counter flexion not only helps with straightness and control over the bend, but also helps with suppling and getting a horse to readily accept the contact.
Heres one of the exercises I’ve been working on. Another fun one has been riding “square” corners with a little counter flexion to focus on straightness and keeping the shoulder from falling in or out
