Long lining and earliest of piaffe/passage training

My footing was slick today for my (currently) spicier horse, so I pulled out my long lines and surcingle today! I did normal ground driving work, and then lunging with an outside rein, then also practiced the first steps of piaffe/passage - training them to pick up a foot with tapping of the lunge whip on a leg. Every horse is different - this one wanted to ignore the tapping as long as possible so I had to try tap-normal leg pick up cue with my hand-reward. This worked pretty quickly, but a more reactive horse is often easier.
