My horse reacts like a lunatic to odors. If I try to approach him with anything that smells like citronella he gets hysterical. I’d va like to put on his tick treatment without taking my life in my hands. Any tips?

@K H hi , thanks It is the squid pot he hates. I really want to use it for ticks because in the fall he was bitten and we had a bout of piroplasmosis.

Have you looked into Equi Spot? Not sure if there's a smell but it's supposed to be a once a week application. You can also look into peppermint fly spray. I find it doesnt work as well but better than nothing. Lastly, we drape a tea towel over one of our horses noses thats tucked into the halter to stop dust from going up his nose. If your horse is fine post application, you might try it too to see if it blocks some of the smell.
