How many of you ride with more than 1 instructor? Ive hit a snag with mine and she suggested I try another instructor for a bit and swap back after I get past this hard spot. Have you done anything like this?

There is nothing wrong with having more than one instructor. A new person may see something different. For the same reason it’s useful to ride other horses and not get stuck riding one very specific way with your aids always the same.

Thanks everyone! I keep talking to my trainer and she still thinks this is the best idea so I can move past my issues. I swear I revert back to a beginner everytime I'm trying to learn something because everything else falls apart. Idk how I went from intermediate walk-trot-canter with jumping hopes 2 years ago to steering issues, seat issues, and just general lack of confidence. Im the only non-pro competitive member of my family so Im struggling hard to feel like I need to understand and understand faster than my trainers other students- who are quickly overtaking me in skill level. A girl who started like 3 months ago is gonna start competiting this year in lower levels- I havent been to one. My grandmother has offered herself as a 3rd trainer option but the drive will be about as much as paying a non-family member. My current trainer is my Mom competing Grand Prix and was a pro-jumper for like 15 years. My grandmother was a pro puissance rider and my grandfather was an instructor, horse trainer, thoroughbred racing trainer, breeder, and fox hunter. The suggested new trainer is a Grand Prix dressage rider as well and I like her well enough as she's the barn owner where we board. Just hard to stomach paying almost $500 a month on lessons when Im paying an additional $600 for board on a horse who cant be ridden yet. Additionally idk if the new trainer has a horse available for me or if she mistakenly thinks I can ride my current trainers lesson horse- which cant be done w/o my trainer there due to other complications that can turn sour quick. Too much to think about >_<;
