My 14 year old OTTB mare can be picky about her feet. I’ve owned her for about a year and a half. Sometimes she will stand perfectly, other times she rears, kicks, etc. Doesn’t matter if she is tied or held. I have been more consistent about handling her feet and she is improving. She recently had an abscess and we had to soak the foot. She absolutely did not like it and it took probably 10 minutes and two times of knocking the pan over before we got her foot soaking. Does anybody have an tips on how to get her more familiar and better about having her feet handled?

My mare is also not the easiest what it comes to her back feet, she's also young, so that's not super uncommon. As ignoring the problem hasn't really (surprisingly 😆) helped out, I do daily training with her back feet, keeping in mind that I will never want to go into an argument with her. I do the excercises when she's calm and in the best possible mood, and reward her quite a lot.
