Grain aggression
My 4yr old OTTB is acting aggressive for his grain. And I say acting because if I correct him or if I stand with him and pet him while he eats he’s totally fine and calm. But when I come in the stall he puts on a show that is impressive (ears pinned and head tossing) and when I walk away I can hear him pawing and sometimes kicking out while he eats. It has gotten a lot better since I’ve had him, only happens for his pm grain (totally fine in the am and for his hay). My trainer suggested that growing up on the track they may have fed the baby horses together to promote aggression which can translate to being more aggressive during races.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help him find that calmness and security on his own? I don’t want him anxious about his grain. 🥲
