Stirrup Leather Review
My stirrup leathers arrived last week, and I was finally able to give them a good test today, as the weather has been bad.
First of all, the quality is very high. High or higher than any other high-end stirrup leather I've had in the past - above their cost for sure. The leather is a very nice calf/nappa, but thick enough that I do not think that they will stretch. The stitching is perfect; I couldn't find a single missed or incorrect stitch on either of them. The numbering is very deep, you can even read the numbers while riding if you need to adjust a stirrup. The buckle is heavy-duty and won't have issues.
Design - I love the half-holes on these leathers. I always want to add holes to leathers but getting them perfect is impossible and it always looks like a mess. I liked the suppleness of the leathers - I was able to get them on my saddle and adjust them without any problems, but they are still firm and don't feel flimsy/stretchy. I like the buckle; I don't think I've seen this design before. It lays flatter than a standard buckle under the flap - very cool.
Overall I really like the leathers and would recommend them. I think the cost is lower than the reflected quality - there are a lot of very nice high-end touches on such a simple product.
