I love these dressage reins! These are the 16mm Round Stitched full dressage reins in brown. I have three things I like and dislike about these reins. I will start with what I like about these reins. 1. The Width of the ReinsI love that these reins are skinner than my normal reins I ride in. I have small hands so, they are more comfortable for me to hold in my hands. 2. The Elastic CradleThis piece of the reins are by the hook stud attachment. The elastic cradle is a thin piece of elastic that has a little bit of give to it. This means when I ride with these reins the contact becomes softer. My horse generally hangs on the bit and I noticed he didn’t hang on the bit as much when I rode in the reins.3. The Portion of the Reins Before the Hook Stud AttachmentAs the reins get closer to the hook stud attachment, they become even skinner that reminds me of a leather rope. At first I wondered what throw was for. When I rode I noticed the connection became closer between my horse and I. Rather than having to worry about that portion of my reins getting twisted (this is what I would have to do with my other reins) I have the ease of the end of the reins turning into a rope like form so, there is no way they could twist.1. The Rubber on the ReinsI don’t believe these reins are super grippy but, since they are skinner for me it’s not a big deal. Also, I think the reins would be grippier if the rubber was on both sides of the reins instead of just one side.2. The Hook Stud Attachment It was a little tricky for me to put my bit on these reins since there are two pieces that go through the hook stud attachment. I believe it would be easier to attach the bit if there was only one piece to go through the hook stud or to make the two pieces thinner. I have owned reins that are harder to thread through the hook stud but, this is something to keep in mind if you change bits often.3. The Size Options for the ReinsThe size I have is full. I have a 17 hand horse that has a long neck. This means that if I were to do stretch work with these reins he couldn’t stretch all the way down since the reins are too short. So, it would be great if these reins had an extra full size offered.Overall, these reins are great and I will recommend to anyone who is looking for a great dressage rein for a Pelham bit, double bridle, and even a simple snaffle.
