Since winter is coming, what are your strategies and plans what it comes to rugs? How do you decide when it's time to put on a rug, what it's time for a warmer rug, and when do the rugs come of? The answer is usually very varied since everyone lives in different countries and has different horses (maybe ones don't even use rugs at all 😊).

I start to use rugs from autumn since the weather gets quite cold and keep on using them till spring season. The rugs help to keep the coat of my horse quite short and very shiny without the need to clip her☺️

I only blanketed my guy twice last year! He has hay, a run in shed, and a thick winter coat, so only very very cold weather warrants blanketing. It’s definitely a trade off, though, as he’s much harder to exercise without a clip. Our clipped horses or horses with shorter coats do get blanketed as needed :)
