I am lost on what to do. On the one hand my horses sweat a bunch during winter which is obviously bad but in the other hand I don't want to pay 100 euros a month for the rug service as in Spain during the day the horses have to go witgout/with less rugs than at night.

So don't blanket. Horses do well in cold. If it's 34 or below, I would blanket, but that's pretty much it. I personally almost never clip horses unless they have cushings and are just giant furry teddy bears

I shave my horse like the rest of the people in my stable in the later autumn because when it has long fur it is very difficult to dry it after training. Once I was late with shaving and I had to dry it with towels and dry it for a long time in a fleece blanket so that I could change it to a stable blanket and go home. Winter is always stressful for me . I’m not sure if he is warm enough or on the other hand I am not overheating him. Every day might be different. After shaving I’m following the generally accepted rules of blanketing (temperature + wind) and necessarily give him a mesh. From what you write it seems that you pay a lot for shaving your horse. Isn't there someone in the stable who has a shaver and could do it much cheaper?
